MUSICA
PROPRIA
CIRCUS FRANTICUS
Approx. Grade 5 - Length 7:20 minutes
Commissioned by
The USAF BAND OF LIBERTY
Lieutenant Colonel Alan Sierichs, Commander & Conductor
Program Notes

Welcome to the Big Top!

Commissioned by the Air Force Band of Liberty,
this piece takes the listener on a musical tour of the Circus!
Elephants, horses, clowns, the dog act and the high flying trapeze artists
are all brought to life in this fast action
melodramatic piece that captures the excitement of the Circus.
I attempted to portray the whole circus "experience" since the circus genre has almost all but died out.
The thrills, the laughs, the amazing physical feats and the bizarre!

Circus music fits the concert band perfectly in many ways, just like a march does.
The only difference is that circus music tends to go 90 miles an hour.
Fun to play, with something for everybody, CIRCUS FRANTICUS will teleported to the center ring!
